THE 2020 ANNUAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON-LINE
APRIL 29TH, 2020 BEGINNING AT 7PM

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak we will be holding the annual meeting on-line.

Vote for the 2020-21 Board of Directors

DUE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK THE ELECTION WILL BE HELD ONLINE BEGINNING APRIL 22ND.  DETAILS WILL BE EMAILED TO OUR FAMILIES.

 

The Election results will be announced during the meeting.

Agenda items for the meeting will include:

  • Recognition of AHA Championship Teams
  • Hockey Directors' Year End Report
  • Age Division Directors' Year End Report
  • Treasurer's Financial Report
  • Registrar's Report
  • Results of On-Line Vote on proposed change to AHA Bylaws
  • Election Results and seating of the new Board of Directors

 

Proposed Bylaw Change for review by membership

Membership will be asked to vote on the following change to the AHA Bylaws:

Current Bylaw Text:

ARTICLE VI – Committees

4.  The Scholarship Committee shall consist of one (1) AHA Board member, who shall chair the Committee; two (2) additional AHA Board members; and two one (2) AHA members who are not members of the Board of Directors. The duties of the Committee shall be to:  

  1. The Committee Chair will collect and present, with the inclusion of the President and Hockey Director as required, the applicants anonymously to the Committee.
  2. To establish eligibility and financial criteria for distributing the scholarship funds as awarded to the applicants.
  3. Distribute monies from the Scholarship fund not to exceed 80 percent of the amount raised and deposited to the Scholarship fund from the previous fiscal year or as amended by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.

4.  The Financial Assistance Committee shall consist of one (1) AHA Board member, who shall chair the Committee; two (2) additional AHA Board members; and two one (2) AHA members who are not members of the Board of Directors. The duties of the Committee shall be to:  

  1. The Committee Chair will collect and present, with the inclusion of the President and Hockey Director as required, the applicants to the Committee.
  2. To establish eligibility and financial criteria for distributing the financial assistance funds as awarded to the applicants.
  3. Distribute monies from the Financial Assistance fund not to exceed 80 percent of the amount raised and deposited to the Financial Assistance fund from the previous fiscal year or as amended by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.

2020 AHA Board of Directors Request for Nominations

Voting for the Board of Directors will be held on-line beginning April 22nd.
Details will be sent to member families

The Arvada Hockey Association Board of Directors is looking for nominations for the following open positions/appointments:

  • 6 Division Directors
    • U8/Mite Division Director
    • Squirt Division Director
    • Pee Wee Division Director
    • Bantam Division Director
    • Midget Division Director
    • House Division Director
  • 3 Directors-at-Large

Division Directors

To be eligible for a Division Director, a nominee must have a child playing in the travel program, at the same age division to be represented, unless prior approval is received from the Board.  The House Division Director must have a child playing in the house/option program.

The duties of the Division Directors include:

  1. Official representation of the respective division on the Board.
  2. Attendance at a minimum of two (2) games for each team in the respective age division.
  3. Official liaison between the Board of Directors and the respective division membership.
  4. Board of Directors approval presentation for any team in the respective division requesting to go to any post season tournament.
  5. Provide a written report to the Board for the monthly meeting.
  6. Assist with tournaments.

Directors-at-Large

The Board of Directors is made up of six directors-at-large for a two year term. Three of these Directors shall be elected in even-numbered years, and three of these Directors shall be elected in odd-numbered years.

Please Note: Based on current AHA Bylaws, only current member families or current season coaches officially listed on the USA Hockey/AHA roster are eligible to vote and/or serve on the Board of Directors.  Complete AHA By-laws and information regarding eligibility can be found here.
 
It is our hope to avoid a lengthy annual meeting.  Therefore, no candidates will be allowed to formally address the members during the Annual Meeting.  If you are nominating someone other than yourself, they will be contacted to confirm their interest and will be given an opportunity to submit the requested information.  A list of candidates will be published on the website.
 
Deadline for Nomination applications is midnight on April 19, 2020.
